A key concept you learn about fairly early in mixology is balance: often a well balanced cocktail becomes better than the sum of it’s parts. We know there is more than one aspect of a cocktail, such as the base, sweeteners, acids, mixers, ice, and garnishes. What parts then, make up this lofty, arcane practice we call mixology? I would daresay the facets on this gem are numerous, and would include such things as Heritage, Spirituality, Pop-Culture, Intellectual Aptitude and perhaps her cousin Intuition, among many more. Some of these values have a different flavor, and we as vessels all carry differents of each. How then are they balanced?
Those, my fellow Seekers, are just some of the philosophical questions I hope to explore together with you. I truly believe there is no limit to what can be created, we must and will find a way. Now clock in and open all wells, it’s almost time for service.
